Allergy Screening

Sometimes we eat foods that we have a delayed allergic reaction to; so  we may experience a variety of uncomfortable and menacing health conditions that we would never relate to our diet. Traditional allergy testing only tests for IgE or quick onset allergic reactions and completely misses delayed allergies.  We recommend testing IgG and IgA allergies to get to the bottom of your health ailments.  Once your allergies are identified they should be removed for 3 months and healing the gut should be started with the assistance of supplements. Some symptoms can include but are not limited to:

  • Headaches
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach pain
  • Skin rashes
  • Ear pain
  • Psoriasis
  • Difficulty losing weight
  • Changes in personality

Micronutrient Testing

Nutrition is at the core of integrative health and SpectraCell's Micronutrient Testing is the most advanced diagnostic tool available. Micronutrient testing measures how micronutrients are actually functioning within your  white blood cells.  These tests allow your nutritional assessment for a broad variety of clinical conditions, general wellness and the prevention of chronic diseases including arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular risk, diabetes, various immunological disorders and metabolic disorders. SpectraCell's Micronutrient tests measure the function of 35 nutritional components including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids within our white blood cells.  Scientific evidence shows us that analyzing the white blood cells gives us the most accurate analysis of a body's deficiencies.

Traditionally, a person waited to go to the doctor at the first signs of a symptom.  Today, individuals are looking for way to not only manage illness with personalized treatment plans, but they are also seeking to achieve a higher level of wellness.

Adrenal Level Testing

Cortisol:

Your waking day hormone (highest in the morning and lowest at night). It is necessary for energy production, blood sugar metabolism, anti-inflammatory effects and stress response.

Often when we have trouble sleeping at night and our mind is racing we have high cortisol which should be low to allow us to have a good nights sleep.  In other cases we have been having a lot of stress or work for a long period of time and our adrenals are burned out or we are experiencing “adrenal fatigue”. Usual Signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue include:

  • High levels of fatigue/Low Energy
  • Brain Fog/Inability to think clearly/poor memory
  • Waking Exhausted after a long sleep
  • Inability to handle stress
  • Easily made dizzy on standing quickly
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Craving Salty Foods
  • Decreased Immunity
  • Decreased Libido
  • Increased symptoms of PMS or peri-menopause
  • Lesser known symptoms include:
  • Asthma, allergies or respiratory complaints
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Dry skin
  • Extreme tiredness an hour after exercise
  • Frequent urination
  • Joint pain
  • Lines in your fingertips
  • Loss of muscle tone
  • Low blood pressure
  • Low blood sugar
  • Low sex drive
  • Lower back pain
  • Numbness in your fingers / Poor circulation
  • Weight gain

Salivary Hormone Testing

Simple, non-invasive, reliable and accurate method to assess bio available hormone levels. Estrone, Estradiol, Estriol, Progesterone, Testosterone, Dihydrotestosterone, DHEA, Cortisol.  Hormones effect so much in our bodies and can make a huge impact on our quality of life.  No blood draw necessary, do from the comfort of your own home and get excellent helpful results for information to get you feeling better ASAP!

SIBO Testing and Treatment

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Breath Test

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a serious digestive disturbance which can be treated effectively, but only if it is accurately diagnosed.

Typically, small amounts of bacteria are found in the small intestine. Occasionally, additional bacteria migrate from the large intestine into the small intestine, creating symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea. As the symptoms are very similar to those associated with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), data from this test may assist physicians in evaluating IBS cases. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth can easily be diagnosed by testing patients' breath samples for levels of hydrogen, methane, or both. After ingesting a substrate packet, the patient produces breath samples every 20 minutes over a 3-hour period.

Samples are then mailed to Commonwealth Laboratories LLC. Analysis of the samples yields data on production of the targeted gases as the digestive process proceeds. The graph produced using this data provides key indicators of the existence/ extent of SIBO. The graph is a clear and understandable tool that physicians may share with patients in reviewing their test results.

How to prepare for the SIBO Breath Testing?

There is a 24-hour preparation period before taking the test; the first 12 hours require a specific diet, and the last 12 hours require a complete fasting period; however, you may brush your teeth.

Can small intestinal bacterial overgrowth be treated?

Yes. Once bacterial overgrowth has been diagnosed, a health practitioner can use an appropriate antibiotic regimen to eradicate the bacteria, relieving the symptoms. Treatment can then begin on the underlying causes to keep overgrowth from recurring.

How the SIBO Breath Testing program works

  • •The test is performed, in the physician's office or the patient's home
  • Breath samples are returned to Commonwealth Laboratories LLC in the postage paid box.

The analytical results are faxed to the physician's office: http://www.hydrogenbreathtesting.com/our-tests/our-tests-sibo.html

Labs Important to Evaluate in Weight Loss Programs

It is important to make sure hormones and labs are in balance or else you can be doing everything right and not lose weight.

Low thyroid hormone is associated with weight gain and difficulty losing weight. As this is your main metabolism hormone it is vital to be at an optimal level to allow weight loss.

Other symptoms of low thyroid include:

  • Low body temperature/feeling cold
  • Low energy
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Constipation
  • Hair loss, including eyebrows
  • Dry skin and skin irregularities
  • Weight gain/difficulty losing weight

Sex Hormone Imbalances Can cause weight gain and difficulty losing weight.  Balancing your sex hormones will not only make you feel so much better but also help get your body back into the shape that you desire.

This can be down a variety of ways, from supplements, to injections, to bio-identical hormone creams, lozenges, or capsules.

Cortisol sometimes called “the stress hormone” is produced by the adrenal glands and is functional in our flight or flight response.  When we have chronic stress in our lives we have high levels of cortisol; this has many negative effects on our health including weight gain, especially fat around the midsection.

Weight gain is also associated with Adrenal fatigue, or low levels or cortisol which occurs after long period of chronic stress.  Balancing your cortisol will help in weight management.

High levels of insulin in cases of insulin resistance can cause increased fat and weight gain.

People with insulin resistance have a diminished ability to respond to insulin. Normal amounts of insulin are inadequate to produce a normal insulin response from fat, muscle and liver cells. In order to compensate, the pancreas produces more insulin.

When insulin levels spike due to high glucose levels, it creates fat. And the more obese you are, the more insulin resistant you become, because the fat causes a spike in another hormone (cortisol) that prevents the insulin from working properly.

Lowering insulin levels will help you lose weight and make you thinner. As you lose body fat, insulin resistance will improve.

Toxin accumulation in our bodies can make it difficult to lose weight. Testing heavy metals and/or a detox protocol can be helpful to facilitate weight loss and activate the mitochondria, the energy powerhouses of our cells.
